I've been experiencing a similar issue with my movie site's Domain Authority (DA). It seems like Google is indeed cracking down on spammy links, which is a good thing for the overall quality of search results. It's important for webmasters and site owners to focus on building high-quality, natural links rather than relying on spammy tactics. Hopefully, this will lead to a more reliable and accurate DA rating in the long run.

The website in question's domain authority has not altered, indicating that it has not changed in terms of impact or credibility within its market or specialty. This might be the result of a number of things, such as steady backlink quality, stable content quality, or a lack of recent upgrades or enhancements.

I understand your concern about your website's domain authority not changing and your rankings decreasing despite an increase in backlinks. There could be several reasons for this situation, and I'll provide some potential explanations and solutions:

Quality of Backlinks: While the quantity of backlinks is important, their quality matters even more. If you've been acquiring low-quality or spammy backlinks, they could be harming your website's authority rather than helping. Check the quality of the websites linking to you and disavow any harmful links using Google's Disavow Tool if necessary.

Link Relevance: Are the new backlinks relevant to your website's content and industry? Google values relevance when assessing the impact of backlinks. Ensure that the majority of your backlinks come from websites that are closely related to your niche.

Anchor Text Diversity: Excessive use of exact-match anchor text can trigger Google's spam filters. Diversify your anchor text with a mix of branded, generic, and long-tail keywords. This can make your link profile look more natural.

Content Quality: Google's algorithms also consider the quality of your content. If your content has become outdated or isn't engaging to users, it can negatively impact your rankings. Update and improve your content to make it more valuable to your audience.

Technical SEO Issues: Check for technical SEO problems on your website, such as slow loading times, mobile-friendliness issues, or duplicate content. These can all impact your rankings and domain authority.

Algorithm Changes: Google frequently updates its algorithms, and these updates can affect rankings. It's possible that a recent algorithm change has impacted your site negatively. Stay informed about these updates and adjust your SEO strategy accordingly.

Competitive Landscape: Your competitors may have improved their SEO efforts, leading to a decrease in your rankings. Regularly monitor your competitors' strategies and make necessary adjustments to stay competitive.

User Experience: Ensure that your website provides a positive user experience. Factors such as page speed, mobile-friendliness, and user engagement can indirectly affect your rankings.

Patience: SEO improvements often take time to show results. It's possible that the benefits of your increased backlinks haven't fully materialized yet. Keep monitoring your progress over a longer period.

Seek Professional Help: If you've tried the above steps and still can't see improvements, consider consulting with an SEO expert or agency. They can conduct a thorough audit and provide customized recommendations.

Remember that SEO is an ongoing process, and it can take time to see significant changes. It's essential to stay updated with the latest SEO best practices and adapt your strategy accordingly. Patience and consistent efforts are key to achieving and maintaining a strong online presence.

@farhad-malegam said in domain authority has not changed:

There are multiple factors taken into consideration while calculating DA. In this Moz article, DA is explained by Moz itself.
In short, possible reasons could be no backlinks have increased, referring domains are the same regardless of backlinks quantity, and website's credibility.
I faced the same problem for my SEO agency around two years ago. Then, I shifted my focus from the quantity of backlinks to quality and local backlinks from and around Sydney. And guess what? It has been significantly improving and it has also impacted organic traffic positively.

Moz's article on Domain Authority (DA) explains that several factors affect DA, including the lack of increased backlinks, consistent referring domains regardless of backlink quantity, and website credibility.

I encountered a similar issue with my SEO agency two years ago. To address it, I shifted my strategy from prioritizing the quantity of backlinks on Gaming News Today India to emphasizing quality and acquiring local backlinks in Sydney. The result? A notable improvement in DA and a positive impact on organic traffic.

@garagedoo54 When a website's Domain Authority (DA) remains unchanged, several factors may be contributing to this stability. One significant factor to consider is the quality and quantity of backlinks pointing to the website like Gemstal properties. If there have been no substantial alterations in your backlink profile, your DA may not experience significant changes.

Competitive Landscape: If your competitors are also actively building high-quality backlinks and improving their websites, it can be challenging to outpace them in terms of domain authority.

Content Quality and Relevance: Domain authority considers various factors, including content quality and relevance. If your content strategy hasn't significantly improved, this can impact changes in domain authority.

Technical SEO Issues: Technical SEO problems, such as slow page load times or indexing issues, can hinder your website's performance and influence domain authority.

To improve domain authority, focus on creating high-quality, relevant content, building authoritative backlinks, and ensuring your website is technically optimized. Keep in mind that changes in domain authority may take time and consistency in your efforts to become noticeable.

I think i have a best solution ever for you. to increase DA you just need to create a high authority backlinks with low spam score. always get backlinks from c-class ip address site.

I have a blog site named Blogzy Media. I have purchased domain before 2 months. I just published a few blogs and create high da backlinks. i have only 25 backlinks but my domain authority is 10.

Lack of New Quality Backlinks: One of the main factors affecting domain authority is the acquisition of high-quality backlinks from reputable and relevant websites Remini Online. If you're not actively acquiring new quality backlinks, your domain authority might remain stagnant.

Frequency of Updates: Domain authority doesn't update frequently. Depending on the SEO tool or service you're using, updates might occur on a monthly or quarterly basis. It's important to give it some time to see changes.

Link Loss: If you've lost high-quality backlinks or if some of your previously acquired backlinks have become less relevant or authoritative, this can negatively impact your domain authority.

1 Reply Last reply Reply Quote 0

I owned this website https://gepcobill.pk/]. Actually from 1 month i got good backlinks from my relevent websites. But, it's still my DA not changing from 1. Please Moz Team Let me know how i can increase it?

Hmm, I get where you're coming from. SEO's like taming a wild river – it takes time, patience, and some stoic resolve. Domain Authority, you know, it's like the weight of your website's reputation in the digital realm. Now, giving the same backlinks to another site might not guarantee the same results. SEO's a bit of an enigma; it's like planting seeds and waiting for the harvest. Sometimes, even with good backlinks, your DA might not budge for a while.

You're in the right lane with relevant backlinks – that's like nurturing your site's roots. But here's the thing, SEO's a marathon, not a sprint. It's about consistency and letting the algorithms do their dance. Focus on quality content and natural growth, kinda like how the oak tree doesn't rush to be tall overnight. Keep the stoic mindset – trust the process, be patient, and remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. And yeah, you'll see your DA rising eventually. Umm, I know it's a waiting game, but believe me, the fruits of your SEO labor will show up. Keep at it!

You can always do some branding to these PBNs/guest posts/links and that can help index them quicker which could help these platforms like Moz and Ahref register it, not only that it can actually help build the power and increase the DA of those links as well.

1 Reply Last reply Reply Quote 0

Competitive Landscape: Domain authority is also influenced by the domain authorities of other websites in your niche. Timing: It can take time for search engines to re-crawl and reindex your website with the new URL structure. Changes in domain authority may not be immediate. Be patient and continue monitoring your website's performance.

301 Redirects: Ensure that your 301 redirects from the "www" version to the non-"www" version are correctly implemented. Any issues with redirects can impact how search engines treat your site.

Content Quality: Domain authority is influenced by the quality and relevance of your content, as well as the number and quality of backlinks. If your content remains the same, and there are no new high-quality backlinks, your DA may not change significantly.

Competitive Landscape: Domain authority is relative, and it can be influenced by the authority of other websites in your niche or industry. If your competitors also have strong domain authority, it can be challenging to see significant changes.

Link Building: Consider a focused link-building strategy to acquire high-quality backlinks to your new non-"www" domain. Quality backlinks from authoritative websites can positively impact your domain authority over time.

Content Updates: Continuously update and improve your website's content. Fresh and relevant content can attract more organic traffic and improve your domain's overall authority.

Technical SEO: Ensure that your website is technically sound. Factors such as site speed, mobile-friendliness, and a secure HTTPS connection can indirectly influence your domain authority.

Competitive Analysis: Analyze the websites that outrank you in search results. What are they doing differently in terms of content, backlinks, and overall SEO strategy? Learning from competitors can help you improve your DA.

Patience: Domain authority changes are not always rapid. It may take several months or even longer to see significant shifts in your DA score.

SEO Audit: Consider conducting a comprehensive SEO audit of your website to identify any potential issues that may be affecting your domain authority. Addressing these issues can have a positive impact.

Remember that domain authority is just one of many SEO metrics, and it's not the sole indicator of a website's overall performance in search engines. Focus on providing valuable content, improving user experience, and building a strong online presence to see long-term improvements in your website's SEO performance.

Hello! You have to keep in mind that the domain authority moves somewhat slowly and is never as fast as you would like. One of the reasons has to do with the indexing of your backlinks. If you have a good link building strategy, you will be creating links at a constant rate... but that does not mean that Google reads those links with the same speed and consistency with which you are creating them. And if Google does not read your links and does not index them, logically the domain authority is not going to move for a while. So you may not have a backlink or domain authority problem, but the source of the bottleneck is Google's ability to index your backlinks quickly.

The websites where you get links are not yours, they belong to other people, so you cannot go to Search Console and index them by hand, we have no authority to ask Google to index them because we need that backlink to be added to our backlink list.

The normal and desirable thing in this case would be to let Google robots reach those links naturally. But no one guarantees that this will happen just like that and even when it does happen, it may take longer, much longer than we would like. That is why you can use backlink indexers or similar tools to make sure that those hard-earned backlinks really do have an effect on your domain authority.

What indexers do is make calls to the page in question, also known as pings, or create ephemeral links to it. Each indexer uses its tricks but they all send signals to Google that this website exists, registers activity and should be indexed.

If you can get your backlinks indexed quickly, chances are your DA will move faster and get you out of that jam.

I hope I have helped you, have a good day!

1 Reply Last reply Reply Quote 0

I purchased a website that gets around 1,500 in traffic and makes a few hundred in Adsense. The previous owner had rebranded the site and changed the domain which ended up hurting his SEO and traffic. Before that it was getting 10,000 in traffic on the old domain.
It's been a few years since the rebrand but the original domain still holds a lot of authority and got way more traffic. Should I consider switching the website back to the original domain to try to improve rankings again or should I just focus on the new domain?
The website now is snipon.com and the previous domain name was surveyh.com
I'm wondering if switching back to the original domain will still be beneficial or if it will just mess up what's happening now on the rebranded site.

We're here to answer your questions! For a full overview, please see our help hub article here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority First, it's important to keep in mind that Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how likely a website is to rank in search engine result pages (SERPs). It is not a Google ranking factor. Domain Authority scores range from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater likelihood of ranking. Since DA is based on machine learning calculations, your site's score will often fluctuate as more, fewer, or different data points become available and are incorporated into those calculations. For instance, if facebook.com were to acquire a billion new links, every other site’s DA would drop relative to Facebook’s. Because more established and authoritative domains like Facebook will have increasingly larger link profiles, they take up more of the high-DA slots, leaving less room at the higher end of the scale for other domains with less robust link profiles. Therefore, it's significantly easier to grow your score from 20 to 30 than it is to grow it from 70 to 80. For this reason, it’s important to use Domain Authority as a comparative metric rather than an absolute one. The best way to influence your DA is to improve your overall site health with a focus on the quality and quantity of external links pointing to your site. How can I use backlink tools to find just those from http sites? Right now I'm looking at exporting a spreadsheet with 3.3 million entries and filtering - and there's not one person here who wants to do that! Thanks in advance.
