Schema description wordcount guidelines ?
-
Hi
is there a wordcount guideline for the description field in Ravens schema creator ?
according to their page on event schema an excerpt from the page will show up as a short description but then their tool has a field for adding a description!
I was just adding some edited copy from the page into this but if it already pulls in an excerpt is there any need ?
I take it its a good idea for better control of what's displayed in rich snippet, if so what's suggested wordcount limit ?
cheers

Good info thanks

Tried it a couple of times, but I was really surprised how terrible they are at identifying the content you serve on pages. That's why we started a while ago with completely integrating Schema.org as far as we can to make sure they'll 'get' it.

Good advice
have you any experience of using data highlighter in gwt at all ? any good ?
all best

You're welcome. That's also why I always code my own Schema integrations so I don't have to worry about the limitations of a tool.

Thanks for that good resource Martijn !
Only thing is it just confirms that I should be able to add offer/ticket info yet schema creator plugin offers no such fields option for events but i have emailed Raven support rabout that & the fact that event data i have created so far is actually being displayed visually on the page too which seems strange

Hi Dan, I could explain a lot of things here but I would recommend to visit and read the content on this page: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/164506?hl=en Google will explain what you need to do to get event snippets.

Thanks for commenting Martijn !
O.k so i fill in the description field to simply describe this instance of event schema, but should not expect that to be used in the actual rich snippet since G will fill that with content from the page ?
Also since the event in question is a paid course, where do i put price in Ravens schema creator since there is no price like field ? I see on some resources that prices/costs should be added to event schema via an 'offers' attribute but Ravens schema creator wp tool does not include an offers field within 'events'. Do i neen to create a separate 'offers' item/schema after i create and implement the events schema ?
All Best

Hi Dan, there is no word count guideline for this at all. They're not using the event descriptions itself I think in the rich snippets but only the name of the event. You have to tell them though about the description because otherwise it's not a valid implementation but there is no certain limit.

titles length, URL length and meta descriptions on a subdomain effecting SEO on main domain?
Hi all, I am currently evaluating areas for optimization on my main domain. When doing this, Moz has identified multiple titles and urls that should be shortened and missing meta descriptions on my subdomain (a help center of sorts). As far as I am aware, we have not set up any "no-index" rules for this subdomain. Are these items affecting SEO on my main domain? Thanks,

Using Schema markup for Feefo reviews
I am a little confused about whether or not it is ok to use Schema markup with reviews collected through Feefo. We use Feefo to collect reviews from our customers and these get displayed on our website. We get service ratings as well as product ratings through Feefo. My question is: Is it ok to use Schema markup for these? I would have thought they would fall under 3rd party reviews, but this article from the Feefo website seems to suggest that it would be ok to use markup in the way they recommend. Can anyone confirm how Google handles review markup like this? Thanks in advance!

Best schema option for condos / condominiums?
Hey guys, I'm doing a review on some schema on some of our sites. Most of them are generic using LocalBusiness. There are a few more specific schemas I could use, but not sure what would be the most relevant. Wondering if any of you have a suggestion or ideas? https://schema.org/Residence https://schema.org/LodgingBusiness https://schema.org/ApartmentComplex or I could just stick with LocalBusiness. I'm leaning towards LodgingBusiness or ApartmentComplex.... but when I think of LodgingBusiness I think of something temporary / vacation type deal like hotels. Apartments... kind of self explanatory, a condominium isn't exactly an apartment but perhaps it is more comparable to an apartment than a hotel, motel or inn. What are you thoughts on this? Also, which "format" is better to use RDFa, microdata, or JSON-LD. Does it matter?

Ecommerce On-Site SEO: Keywords in Category Descriptions
Hello, I'm doing on-site SEO for a client's ecommerce site. Are 160 words enough for a category description? I'm using the keywords once at the top of the description, and once at the bottom of the description, with the ones at the bottom reworded so that they are the keywords with a different word order. I used to put the keywords in 3 times but it just feels like stuffing. Is twice, worded differently the second time, enough for a category description? Thanks.
