The effect of same IP addresses on SERPs

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the following.
If I was ranking number 1 for a term, what would the effects be of creating another site, hosted on the same server / IP, same whois info, same URL but a different TLD, and trying to get this to rank for the term also.
Does G restrict search results to one IP per page or is this perfectly possible?
(The term is fairly uncompetitive)

Thanks for the responses, I appreciate both of your points.
The main reason for me to do it is increased visibility in the SERPs. The original site sometimes ranks1st and 2nd and has that position pretty much secured. It no longer requires active resources for link building and over time it will get these naturally.
I ask because I have recently acquired the .com TLD and instead of just 301'ing this, I thought I could make use of it and get maybe position 3 and 4 out of it.
All content is unique, all links are natural and editorial references and there is competition that could touch it (that I can see :).
The question really boils down to whether G will rank two sites that exist on the same IP on the same SERP? Does anyone know if this is possible or if there are factors in place to prevent this.

Any links, which are a key component of SEO could be split between the two sites rather than bolstering the single site.
Also would the content on this seperate site be unique from the original site? If not then the search engines may look at the new page and decided that it is not worthy of inclusion.
It is possible to rank for the same term with multiple pages on your site so for example the home page, about us and offers page could rank 1, 2 and 3 for a term. Aiming for this may be a better use of your time and efforts as seeing multiple listings for a site at the top of the rankings increases credibility for that site in the users eyes.

Why would you want to do it? Since you want to rank for the same term, it will only divide your resources as you will have to work on both of them.
Even if want to do this way, make sure not to go for illegitimate link building between the two domains. Moreover, Google is quite smart to identify SERP Hijacking methods.

Reverse IP Lookup
I have a client that has over 90,000 incoming links from a single IP address. I can't figure out who's linking to them. I've used several different reverse IP lookup tools and can tell that the server is in Europe and ISP is AT&T Global Network Services Nederland B.V.. (http://www.ip-adress.com/reverse_ip/194.196.0.36) Says there's 0 hosts on that IP. Any suggestions?

Why am I not showing up in the SERP's or Google Local?
I have been trying to optimise the following site for both Google SERP's and Google Local - Pixel Primate The URL has been around for around 3 years now but they just updated the website and launched it in December 2012. I did the on-page optimisation early in January 2013 and Google seems to have indexed the changes, for the home page at least. One major keyword I am targeting for the home page is 'Web Design Leicester'. I understand that the DA is fairly low (24) so this is something I need to improve. However, I've experienced positive results fairly quickly from just on-page optimisation for other sites I have worked on. The site just doesn't seem to be ranking at all for any keywords. Maybe the industry type is just extremely competitve but I find it very strange to not be visible anywhere in the SERPs. The site does not seem to have any penalties as it ranks for 'Pixel Primate' and all pages appear when doing a site: search. Also what's strange is that I set up the Google Local listing years ago but it doesn't appear anywhere in the local listing, not even when I search for it manually. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How to display the full structure of website on Google serps
I have been searching around but unable to gather information as to how we can control or list top pages of a website on Google's first page , i.e. if we type seomoz in google , we can see the main listing with 6 subdomain listings , which link to Blog , Seo tool , Beginner Seo guide , Learn Seo , Pricing & Plans and login My question is can we control these listings i.e. what to display and what not , and if yes how can we make this type of visibility on first page , by using html or xml sitemaps or theirs something mostly websites are missing. Does the use of sliders for text-on-page, effects SEO in any way?
The concept of using text sliders in an e-commerce site as a solution to placing SEO text above or in between product and high on ages, seems too good to be true.... or is it? How do I check if my IP is blocked?
We changed servers and where our sites once ranked very highly (page 1 for all sites), they now are nowhere to be seen. Someone suggested that our IP might be blocked. Someone else suggested SEOMoz was the place to go to get it checked. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. With thanks. Bryan

Will errors on a subdomain effect the overall health of the root domain?
As stated in the question, we have 2 sub domains that contain over 2000 reported errors from SEOMOZ. The root domain has a clean bill of health, and i was just wondering if these errors on the sub-domains could have a negative effect on the root domain in the eyes of Google. On a dedicated server with multiple IP addresses, how can one address group be slow/time out and all other IP addresses OK?
We utilize a dedicated server to host roughly 60 sites on. The server is with a company that utilizes a lady who drives race cars.... About 4 months ago we realized we had a group of sites down thanks to monitoring alerts and checked it out. All were on the same IP address and the sites on the other IP address were still up and functioning well. When we contacted the support at first we were stonewalled, but eventually they said there was a problem and it was resolved within about 2 hours. Up until recently we had no problems. As a part of our ongoing SEO we check page load speed for our clients. A few days ago a client who has their site hosted by the same company was running very slow (about 8 seconds to load without cache). We ran every check we could and could not find a reason on our end. The client called the host and were told they needed to be on some other type of server (with the host) at a fee increase of roughly $10 per month. Yesterday, we noticed one group of sites on our server was down and, again, it was one IP address with about 8 sites on it. On chat with support, they kept saying it was our ISP. (We speed tested on multiple computers and were 22MB down and 9MB up +/-2MB). We ran a trace on the IP address and it went through without a problem on three occassions over about ten minutes. After about 30 minutes the sites were back up. Here's the twist: we had a couple of people in the building who were on other ISP's try and the sites came up and loaded on their machines. Does anyone have any idea as to what the issue is?

Changing CMS, are there SEO effects?
We want to change our cms from typo3 to CMS made Simple. We have done this already for another site and it effected the rankings. Have you got experience with this? What factors are important for SEO to consider? Is it normal when you change from cms the rankings will drop?
