Using logical operators (AND / OR) in Google Analytics Goal Funnels
-
When setting up a Funnel within Google Analytics, is it possible to use logical operators (e.g. OR, AND) in the first (required) step of the funnel? For example, suppose I want to track users who visit page1.html AND page2.html before proceeding to the destination goal.
I've entered two pages separated by the OR operator, and neither the "Verify this Goal" nor "Save" produces an error message - is it safe to assume that this is working as I intend?
Thanks in advance!
-
Thanks, Peter. That's useful to know.
I ultimately found an easier solution. My situation is that I'm changing some URLs and I want to keep consistent tracking of my funnels/goals.
So if I changed a URL from say page1.htm to page2.htm, I was thinking I needed to define the associated funnel to be page1.htm OR page2.htm. However, I discovered that if I simply changed the funnel from the former to the latter, all of the historical data for page1.htm would be combined with new data collected for page2.htm. Thus, the logical operator wasn't necessary.

Yes - but there is one thing that you should know. Once you enable RegEx ALL your parameters in funnel should be regexed.
https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1116091?hl=en#matchTypes
"Match Types: Begins with, Equals to, & Regular Expression
There are three diferent match types that define how Analytics identifies a URL for either a goal or a funnel. The match type that you select for your goal URL also applies to the URLs in the funnel, if you create one." -
Trenton,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm trying it your way and will test shortly!
Best,
Akira

Hey Akira,
In the interest of a fast response, I have to admit I'm not 100% positive on this, that said I believe and my research (1, 2, 3) has supported the below response:
I do not believe that you can use logical operators to setup a step of the goal funnel, but you CAN use RegEx.
A simple RegEx to help here would be: (page1.html|page2.html). The () are just a grouping & the | is the OR operator.Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any issues on this. I would recommend testing your solution (make sure you haven't excluded the IP you're on) to ensure it's working properly. You should be able to see it ~2 hours after you complete the test.
Regards,
Trenton

Whatstuffwherebot user agent messing up Google Analytics
Starting yesterday, Aug 26, 2020, I noticed a new bot crawling our site with user agent whatstuffwherebot. Google Analytics is counting these hits as human traffic, completely throwing off my numbers - yesterday, Analytics reported nearly triple my typical number of visitors. As of now, Search Console only shows data through Aug 25 so I don't know if Search Console is also affected. Is anybody else seeing something similar? Does anybody know what the whatstuffwherebot bot is? I don't get any results when I search on Google or Bing. For what it's worth, the traffic is coming from Columbus, OH, running over Amazon AWS via 278 different IP addresses so far. Also, WordFence (my WordPress security plugin) correctly identifies these hits as bot traffic.

Website excluded from indexing, google-selected canonical: N/A
The google search console revealed to me that none of my pages was indexed, all pages are listed in the 'excluded' section "duplicate, google chose different canonical than user".

But in the URL-inspection tab it shows me google-selected canonical: N/A Indexing and crawling is both allowed. Don't know how to get my pages to be indexed correctly. (by the way, they do NOT exist in other languages, so that can't be a reason why google might think they are a duplicate. There's definitively no other version of those pages available)0 -
Google analytics suddenly stopped tracking all my landing pages
Hey guys. I love the new update of GA. Looks so clean. So, of course, I was excited to see how my landing pages were doing. I went to behavior, all content, all pages. And I noticed it's only showing me 19 pages out of the 93 I have indexed. And none of the top ones at all! Can't find them anywhere in GA! Anyone seen this before? Thank you so much

Can you arrange Google Analytics source/medium traffic by percentage change?
I'm doing a year to year traffic audit for a client. I would like to analyze Google Analytics source/medium traffic by percent change. Is there a way to do this? Do I have to create a custom variable? 9BH70RO

Setting up Google Analytics for Subsites
I currently have one main .com site and am planning on launching geo-location subsites .co.uk, .com.au, .ru, etc... Traffic will flow between both sites and some of the content on the subsites will be duplicate and therefore include a canonical tag to the main site. I want to set up GA to capture who is going to the subsites and vice versa and correctly capture crossover traffic. Any advice on implementing advanced analytics directly (or links to sources that will direct me the right direction for this project)

Can you use Google tag manager to manage rich snippets/schema mark up?
Hi,Does anyone know if you can use the new Google tag manager to manage rich snippets? I've seen that there is an HTML section where you can edit HTML that isn't shown on the site - do you think this field could be used to add schema data? Thanks,Karen

AW Stats vs Google Analytics
Hey Moz Community, I am looking to get opinions on the best practice for analytics/traffic analysis. From experience I know that AW Stats reads high and Google Analytics reads low for traffic for reason in this article http://www.smartz.com/blog/2009/01/23/analytic-confusion-%E2%80%93-awstats-vs-google-analytics/ It drives me a little nuts how far off both are for some pages. I have one article that shows 100 views (GA) and AW stats shows 5 times that number of views. Any suggestions or systems you recommend? Thanks
