What after I place a blog comment
-
I have started commenting on high PR DoFollow blogs more strongly off late. I don't do it just for the heck of it. I comment on relevant posts, go through them nicely and make sensible comments. This way I make sure my comments are not removed by the admin,
What I want to know is... What after I make the comment and put my website's URL there? Does that mean I have got a backlink already? Or do I need to do something else too to make sure Google recognizes that as a backlink?
I have the same question regarding forum postings too.

Thanks Andrew. Your help is always appreciated.

Hi KS,
A few more comments for you below.
Does that mean I have got a backlink already?
Once the comment has been approved by the moderator you should have a live link. You can check if it is do follow by using a firexfox plugin such as SEOBook or SEOQuake.
Or do I need to do something else too to make sure Google recognizes that as a backlink?
Not normally. As you mentioned the blogs are already high PR, the search engines shouldn't have any problem finding your links. If the blog is Wordpress, then the webmaster may have already setup a list of pinging sites so the site should be crawled often. That said, if you are concerned that Google hasn't found the link, just follow my advice previously regarding pinging the blog you have commented on.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Andrew

Yes, you can do it from time to time. I once did a study of one of my major competitors and to my surprise I found a few good links it in the comments!
But if page has been created a long time ago then it might take a long time (aprox. 1 month) for Google to index it again!
Cheers,
Russel

I always use keywords in anchor text.
So what you suggest is that I should continue posting quality comments on quality blogs/websites and not worry about the rest. Google will do its job on its own. Yeah?
-
Hi there,
First of all make sure that you use particular keywords in anchor text, in order to increase their placing in SERP.
For example if your keyword is "Donuts in Dubai" then make sure that you use this words in your anchor text.
In case if you will simply put the website link, then it will make an impact only on your Domain Authority but not on keyword ranking! For the forum you can do it in same manner. The link can be at the beginning of the text, middle or end.
You can't do anything in terms of increasing the possibility of indexing this page by Google. It depends on Page Authority, quality of the website, popularity of the text on this page and even on qty of backlinks to this page.
Cheers,
Russel

Backlinks through dofollow commenting
I'm interested in building backlinks to my photography business site by leaving good, engaging comments on other photographers' DoFollow blogs. Is this a good idea? Is it worth the effort? Through a little research, I've managed to locate more than 40 dofollow photographer blogs that have a domain authority of 35+. The idea is to take an hour or so a week to leave 10-20 comments on their blog posts. Would you consider this a good strategy? I rank on the first and second page of most of my keywords that I'm working on, but I want to rank 1st or 2nd on them. I used the keyword finder tool on google adwords to find the keywords that are the most searched for in my area. Surprisingly the competition is not large, so I'm fairly comfident I can get there. I've already optimized my site substantially and I'm looking into link building. Thoughts?

Do you need a place to ditch bad links?
This is not a question as such, more a gift 🙂 I have registered a domain name to ditch bad links. For example, let's pretend I have a page on my site: www.mydomain.com/viagra and have never done any good SEO to promote this page, just a load of spammy directory links. The page used to rank for Viagra but then Google took manual action and I lost my ranking. Booo! Now the page is of no use to me until I get all these links removed and the manual action revoked. Even then, I'll be starting from scratch re-building good links to the page. Here's another option, simply re-direct the url to badlinksbin.com and say goodbye to all those spammy links. This bypasses the lengthy link removal process. Warning: I wouldn't recommend using this method if you have some good links in the mix, unless you can contact the site owners and get the links changed. And, don't forget to change the name of the url first so the Viagra page still exists on your site. As I've already set this up, I thought no harm sharing it and letting you guys use it too. I hope it helps some people.

Is commenting on other peoples blogs / articles good for seo?
Hello everyone, Just a quick question, say if I find some websites which are relevant to my service and they have articles I can comment on and include my URL , will these help for SEO? The websites also have a good PR rating higher than 3 does this count towards anything? Would these links be classed 'follow' or 'nofollow' links - could something please explain what this means aswell. Thanks very much!

Website/blog list to get quality backlinks?
Hi Everyone says quality backlinks increase ranking of your website. Can you please suggest a list of good websites and blogs from where I can get quality backlinks and how to do that. I have one person at my disposal full time to do manual commenting or any manual tasks for getting backlinks but how should i approach this problem (of getting backlinks). Where do I start. For information, my website provides online services (its an ecommerce site) and also has a blog in subdirectory. refer to www.geekwik.com www.geekwik.com/blog Would like to become top ranker on search for these services (eg 'logo design services', 'website programming', 'content writing', 'hire virtual assistant' etc) Also anyone interested to become our SEO consultant or SEO service provider (of course paid) is most welcome 🙂 Thanks in Advance!

Reposting my articles on other blogs - good or bad?
Hi there! Our blog is full of really good articles on consumer finance topics. Recently we established contact with some local media and even government agencies who said they will be happy to repost our articles on their sites. Question: is it ok to repost our articles as they are and link back to us, or shall we rewrite them to make them 100% original? The media doesn't insist on original content, but I'd like to get SEO benefit from it (the sites are really good). If original content gives us more SEO value, we're happy to do it Please advise. P.S. Using rel=canonicals is not an option (it's government websites and some old school media - they are very not tech savvy).

Separate blog url helpful?
I am managing a website for a hotel brokerage firm. The main URL is www.hotelassetsgroup.com but we started a new blog with the URL www.hotelsforsaleblog.com. We chose the blog URL because it has the words "hotels for sale." The main website has a tab at the top titled "Blog" which links to the blog URL. I am not sure if this is helping us or not because the main URL and blog URL are both competing for the name of the business "Hotel Assets Group." The blog has very little interlinking within the same URL because it mainly links to the main website. Should we combine the two URLs together and just have the blog URL be the same like- hotelassetsgroup.com/blog or something like that?

Creating a separate blog off our website
A while ago we purchased some domains that are related to our industry. I'm fairly sceptical about using them, but I am interested what peoples thoughts are. We are currently producing quite alot of engaging content and although it's industry related, it is sometimes quite broad and not always appropriate for our company blog. I have been debating whether or not it will be a good idea to use one of the domain names that we have purchased to create more of an industry blog that is off our website. I'm not sure if this is considered a "black hat" technique by using domains registered to us? And also whether or not Google will punish because we are blogging from the same IP address and linking back to our site ? I look forward to hearing what people think. Thanks,
